The nine-hole Kyles of Bute Golf Course is a well-kept secret. It must be one of the most scenic golf courses on the west coast of Scotland, with breathtaking views from every tee. Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the hill above Kames, the golf course offers panoramic views across the water to the Island of Bute, across Loch Fyne to the Mull of Kintyre and on a clear day, south to the Ayrshire coast beyond Arran.
Although there are no bunkers or traps, there are burns, patches of heather and gorse and blind shots on two holes to keep everyone on their toes. You’ll also have to watch out for wandering sheep! Watch out for wildlife too, as you’ll often spot birds of prey circling above and deer.
There are a number of other excellent golf courses within striking distance of Argyll’s Secret Coast, including Rothesay’s 18-hole course on the Isle of Bute, an interesting nine-hole course in Tarbert, and the world famous Machrihanish Dunes course in Kintrye.
