eco-camping

We are a very small camp site with limited infrastructure, as a result we limit camping to those who have made their way to us without bringing their car, to help reduce the impact on our local environment.

Be it walking, cycling, kayaking, sailing or public transport, the health benefits of journeying through breath-taking landscapes at a slower, immersive pace, getting to know the natural world just that little bit better, are compelling.

Carry Farm is very special, with tents pitched beside the shore. Enjoy the morning sounds of oystercatchers, eider ducks and waves lapping on the pebbles. Take the time to get up close to nature .  This is wild camping at its best - with facilities a few minutes walk up the track.

We are ideally located beside several long distance routes on the land and sea. And for those keen to get even further off the beaten track, there are loads of alternative walks, sails and cycle routes to keep you going. See our suggestions for getting here under your own steam on our blog.

And because you are right beside the shore, a fire can be lit on the beach next to your tent for making that well deserved Argyll Coffee Roasters coffee, inspired by the secret coast……….who needs a kitchen when you have the great outdoors.

Sleeping under canvas at Carry Farm provides the perfect opportunity to study the night sky in all its glory and if you are lucky, the aurora borealis will amaze you with a light show.

A short walk away is the modern toilet and shower facilities with an under cover dish washing area and laundry facilities.   Plenty of hooks provide essential hanging areas for wet outside gear.

We are very conscious of limiting the light pollution in an area with such stunning dark skies and therefore the facilities are mainly lit with natural light only.  We do provide low level lighting in the toilets powered by solar energy, but always suggest you bring a torch with you in case of a midnight visit!

Our toilet block is served by our own septic tank and soakaway system assisted by a reed bed.

Booking is advisable, although we do understand that getting to us under your own steam can result in a surprise visit!

Prices per night: £15 per person (kids under 5 free).
